Novel Review : The Hunter
This novel called "Kagoeru Kiba" and been translated into Indonesia by Julanda Tantani with title "The Hunter" in 2012. Published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama with 536 pages. In Japan, this book released in 1996 by Asa Nonami, Japanese bestseller writer who won award for Japanese Mystery and Suspense Award. The Hunter it self won Naoki award, which is the high class award in 1996.
This novel tell us about a woman police named Takako Otomichi who work in Tokyo Metropolitan Police Departement, division criminal problems, third mobile investigation.unit. And a guy named Tamotsu Takizawa who work as a police officer in the headquarters of Tachikawa in Metropolitan Police Departement For 27 years he was a cop, he lived the last 15 years as a detective in charge of investigating crimes heinous crime. Both of them met when a guy died in the fire and bring up the mystery that continues to serial murder.
The first victim was Takuma Sugawara who actually have a real name Teruo Hara. Died due to fire. The causes of fire are known because there is fire ignition that have time trailers on his belt. The second victim was Kazuki Horikawa. Died from dog bites. First the neck is fracture due to that bite, then his throat torn a hole. The third victim was Chieko Yoshii. A housewife who was attacked by a wolf dog. Her condition mor or less the same with Kazuki Horikawa condition. And there are other victim that leads Takako and Takazawa to actual perpetrator and uncover the story behind the serial killing.
The story line in this novel is amazing. I really love it. The way Asa Nonami lead us into each cases atrractively and the detail in every cases make the reader participate to guess what will happen next and who actually behind that murders. People who like read stories that suspenseful murder mystery will not regret it after reading this novel. And because this novel has 536 pages, so for those student who will face the test should postpone the desire to read this novel. Because while reading this novel we have to focus on the story, if not we will be confused by what we read. The point is what we need when reading this novel is alot of concentration and time.
But to sum up, this novel is worth to read.
